Personally, i think that the inventions that have been invented are highly important. Such as the use of light; Would we ever be able to the dress to satisfactory in the dark? No! How would we cloth ourselves without material? With leaves? I think not, so i asked ' What invention would change your life?' to many who attend City of Westminster College as we are all entitled to our own opinion. To further add, i also had my own personal input on fashion.
Plan with creativity and flair a music video. - Ms.Nyzinga
Title of Music Track/Artist;
What's the new slang? ( Totally F'd)
Song by Alex, Liliyanne & Saffron
Recorded/filmed by Jay
Edited by Liliyanne & Saffron
Write a description of your music video concept;
What's the new slang? is based on a skank, which is basically song topic that is co-ordinates with dance moves combined with a catchy up beat instrumental. When listened to it will cause the audience to remember and want to the move the sound of the beat. There isn't a moral to this music video within the film or the lyrics, it's just the way the younger generation communicate with one another nowadays. Our video will not involved a certain type of dress sense; such as all of those involved wearing black or wearing highly cost clothing because this video will just represent the young and old being able to the join together enjoy themselves.
For example:
Migraine skank - Gracious K has to be a well known music video for the dance, this man took the concept of a migraine into a whole new view.
Explain how you are going to use and combine:
Original footage you have filmed yourself:
Using the film of the Alex Rapping/Singing, People dancing in the background and filming random from the streets of London Myself and Liliyanne will combine these shots to allow the viewers to see that not only are the younger generation involved but the elders are willing to have a good time too.
Library footage:
Using the Cannon camera; to film the video because without film, the instrumental and lyrics will have no meaning as we have not included any type of moral within the lyrics. Studio; due to the fact that we need Alex's Rapping in the video.and Apple MAC computers; to edit with final cut pro to complete the video.
Graphics&Animations;
As of yet, we are not sure if we want to use any graphics or animation as we do not want the music video to look un appealing or over done.

HUGO - Sue V
Scorsese attended New York University film school, and began making the short films What's a Nice Girl Like You Doing in a Place Like This? (1963) and It's Not Just You, Murray! (1964). He is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, actor, and film historian. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest directors of all time. In 1990 he founded The Film Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to film preservation, and in 2007 he founded the World Cinema Foundation.
Hugo is a 3D adventure drama film based on Brian Selznick's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret. earned Scorsese his third Golden Globe Award for Best Director. The film was also nominated for eleven Academy Awards, winning five of them. Hugo had to be the 1st 3D film Scorese had made.
Martin Scorses uses an zooming/panning establishment shot to the giving the audience a clear view of their escapism will be focused on. Also indicating what that class is, whether it is Lower class, Middle Class Or working class, Where the location is set
Following, this scene. Mr.Scorses has used a long shot zooming into the clock, jump cuts being used to represent the ticking of the clock to let you know that there is no time for time wasting or in other words time will not wait, use it sparingly.
Matting Scorsese, has made the imagine format of this scene seem old fashion, with the use of the 90's technology. Giving this sort of empathy on a scene can give the audience an insight of what they can or could expect next. Setting the scene allows the essence of old fashion time zone within the Elizabethen times take control on the story line and plot.

Porter and Griffiths - Sue V
PORTER&GRIFFITHS
Porter introduced many different elements in the movie 'The Great Train Robbery.' The great train robbery had to be the first film to introduce use of stunt men and a dummy. At a certain point of the film, there's a scene where a fight takes place on the top of the train; looking carefully or when in escapism, you can clearly be see when the live person has switched with the dummy and the dummy is thrown off of the train. Porter also provided location shooting, in other words an establishment shot; giving the audience an view of where the film has been set. For instance instead of shooting the movie on a sound stage, it had been shot out in the woods. He also used pan shots, jump/cross cuts and parallel editing - using these shots created tense moments causing viewers to sat on the edge of their seats or even just creating empathy for the characters, allowing the audience to socialize: talk about whats going to happen next.
D.W. Griffiths, In 1915 he directed Birth of a Nation based on the 1905 book Klansman by Thomas Dixon. The film was the first feature film ever, and it ran several hours long. The film itself was a very racist film, portraying African Americans in a very negative light which has is an on going stereotype. The film empowered the KKK and caused mass hysteria, leading to Birth of a Nation being banned in some cities.
Griffiths used different shot sizes. For example he would us extreme close ups or far away shots, instead of just using the same distance for every scene, like what was used in the Great Train Robbery. He used the lighting on the set to express emotion. He also used symbolism and flashbacks and flash forwards in the film.

The conventions & Styles of music videos
Camera Shots:
Music videos tend to include many long shots, close ups and mid shots. This is to create emphasis on the artist, location and emotions. Also, close ups are used not only to show emotions but to reflect the words of the song with the movement of the lips of the artist.
Camera Movement:
The movement of the camera is used to follow and trace the artist or band. Camera movements include tilts, pans, tracking and crane shots.
Mise-en-scene: (Visual Theme.)
This is the sequence of props and performers on stage or in a music video. Visual theme puts notification on the representation of a certain event. An example is, ‘Mad’ by Neyo. The scene involves him walking down a road alone, feeling isolated. This reflects the isolation from his lover. Also, the props include hats and dark clothes which represent the down mood. Similarly, the lighting is kept very dark as it is black and white; this connotes the moos of angry and depression

Editing:
Jump cuts is the most used editing technique used in music videos. This is because this allows a sudden change from one scene to another. Transitions such as fade and dissolve are very common in music videos as they create a different effect to cuts.
Lighting:
Some music videos are black and white which help emphasise a particular mood and some videos have artificial lighting which put the artist/s in an enhanced look.

Sound:
Sound is mainly the vocals or the song but in some cases such as Michael Jackson – Thriller, the producers can make the music video into a short film.

16.1.2
STALKER UNEDITED PRODUCTION BY SAFFRON, LILIANE, RAY, PATRICA & PRI.
We, as a team had an hour to record a short film about a young girl who was in rush to be somewhere without noticing she was being followed. However there was twist to the storyline. No editing was allowed, as it was an single handed camera task.
What i enjoyed about the project was, our group had used a range of shots within planning. For example;
POV shot - to show what direction the stalker was heading it and also to see who the victim was in fright.
SHOT REVERSE SHOT - to notice the facial expressions as actions speak louder than words.
CLOSE UP - showing the face down to the shoulders.
TILT - illustrating the movement, clothing and attitude of the actor. Along with;
MEDIUM CLOSE UP
LONG SHOT
EXTREME CLOSE UP
We were impressed with our video because there was no editing involved yet the pace and presentation of it made sense. Also the camera was quite steady as there was use of a tripod and the audio at the end was clear and understanding, The preparation of the project and the contribution in the task was satisfactory as each individual had an input and all ideas were taken into consideration. On the other hand the difficulties were trying to keep the camera in focus after setting certain shots, so throughout the whole video had not been vivid.
What would be done if i could edit the film;
- Re-record some scenes: reason being is to set the focus properly.
- Add dramatic classical music to add intensity and suspense.
- More add more shots to the film: example - high angle to make the victim more vulnerable and the predator more empowered.
- Better location as it was not suitable for the genre we had chosen.

The Gloaming
What is editing?
What is editing?
It is an essential part of any
audio-visual production. It’s also a way of selecting different shots to
produce a story line.
What is Elliptical editing?
It’s a way of using a certain
shot to fill in the gaps to tell the audience what the person was doing,
without it actually taking place in the scene.
Why are long shots used?
To remind the audience where is
the character is, without having to repeat the surrounding over and over. In
other words, it gives the viewers a feel of where the action/event is taking
place without having use different shots to identify.
What is ‘non-diagetic sound?
MUSIC/SOUND/VOICE that has been
added to scene, which wasn’t actually taking place when the event was being
filmed. The character doesn’t hear it but the audience does to give the scene
it an airy, suspicious emotion to the viewers.
How do we know she is bending
down to pick up the ring? (What shots are used and why?)
The shots (of her looking down0
that had been used before hand were used to for another scene, which has now
been used to use less screen time with her bending over again to pick up
another item. (Ring)
Hustle
Overhead establishing shot - what does this achieve?
Giving the viewers an in sight into the what and where the film is set. Giving the audience an idea of what the film what the film or programme will be about.

• What is Shot-Reverse-Shot?
Cutting back and forth between
both characters is simply indicating that both characters conversing with each
other.
• What is Eye-line matching?
The person standing up was on
screen and down, but the person sitting was off screen & up. This is
another way of indication that both persons are interacting with each other.
• Why do we cut to the other
members of the group?
To make sure that the focus isnt taken on off the main actors or characters in the actaul scene
• What is a wipe?
Move action to different
location and time
• What is the effect of using
quick cuts?
Creating fast rhythm and allow audience
to stay on their toes as some shots are quite long and quite short to keep that
pace of story on point

My Video
What I liked about my
video is that I made myself clear about my ambition, family and all the other
factors I had spoken about within my video. Also I enjoyed recording, as my
peers and I were able to play around with the different variety of shots that could
and wouldn’t be able to complete the video, along with the frames in my
storyboard. Whilst doing this, I didn’t enjoy having to repeat myself over and
over again as the camera was either unfocused or kept blurring in my face but
the background was as clear as day. OR the music wasn’t at the points that I
wanted so I had keep cutting and pasting the song over and over again.
Too further add, I
could have improved on my video but because this was final cut pro was brand
new software to me so I had difficulty doing so it wasn’t as easy as to be
said. The thing I would to change up my footage, I would add more shots, more
sound effects, more information and a lot more movement as I was just sitting
down and not doing much walking around. By trying to make more time to finish of my video,
structure the video clearly, that could of helped me save a lot of time because
the resources I would of used would of bee easy to trace. The video was not
long enough and in the video it was unclear because I was trying remember what
to say and in what order to start my video.

Glossary Terms
Key Term: Video Formats.
The file type of a video. Different video formats are used by different programs. A few of the most popular formats for digital video are;Microsoft, QuickTime,Windows, Flash. For example: Microsoft -
Key Term: Streaming.
A method of relaying data(video and audio material)over a computer network as a steady continuous stream, allowing playback to proceed while subsequent data is being received. Or in other words. - Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider. Its verb form, "to stream", refers to the process of delivering media in this manner; the term refers to the delivery method of the medium rather than the medium itself.
Key Term: File compression.
Compression is useful because it helps reduce resources usage, such as data storage space. Because compressed data must be decompressed to be used, this extra processing imposes computational or other costs through decompression, this situation is far from being a free lunch. Data compression is subject to a space-time complexity trade-off. For instance, a compression scheme for video may require expensive hardware for the video to be decompressed fast enough to be viewed as it is being decompressed, and the option to decompress the video in full before watching it may be inconvenient or require additional storage
Key Term: Aspect Ratios.
The aspect ratio of an image describes the proportional relationship between its width and its height. For standard television has been in use since the invention of moving picture cameras and many computer monitors 4:3 Standard is used. And for the international standard format of HDTV, non-HD digital television and analog widescreen television 16:9 Standard is used.
Key Term: Frame Rates.
Frame rate (also known as frame frequency) is the frequency (rate) at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images called frames. The term applies equally well to film and video cameras, computer graphics, and motion capture systems. Frame rate is most often expressed in frames per second (FPS)

Task 5
I will structure my time affective and accurately to ensure that as a student, i ensure that i will do and be sure that i complete all assignments on time with the time period given without fail. Here are some of the techniques that i will be using to ensure that this will be done: timetables, to do lists, targets and diary entries.
To further add, all assignments must done in a quite environment or surrounding at all times as this will give me and my thoughts more concentration time, along with time to add more depth within the details in the text. But i will also make sure the my assignments are clear, up to standard, highly grammatical and well presented so my tutors will understand and know that i am fully committed to this course i have chosen to do for the next 2 years of life in education. Also if i'm in need of any help, i will contact the student advisors or my tutor if i'm lacking any resources, information or advice.
Also with all said above is part of being a independent... student. As a student, i will at times do independent learning as i tend to lose focus when i'm socializing with people with in the lesson. Yet it will be a definite that i ask for help from my study buddy as this is a project and it is a 2 way street so we both have times where we need to depend on one another for any task that is given. Being the kind of person i am, i make targets for myself where i know i will get them done by a certain time.
The resources that i will be using; the internet access that i have at home, around my area and at city of west minister college. As i am attending college, if i need any help i can ask for help from my tutor, head of media or student adviser for any extra information or tasks/information that i had missed out on that day as i was not able to attend or being late to that lesson
