Martin Scorses uses an zooming/panning establishment shot to the giving the audience a clear view of their escapism will be focused on. Also indicating what that class is, whether it is Lower class, Middle Class Or working class, Where the location is set
Following, this scene. Mr.Scorses has used a long shot zooming into the clock, jump cuts being used to represent the ticking of the clock to let you know that there is no time for time wasting or in other words time will not wait, use it sparingly.

Matting Scorsese, has made the imagine format of this scene seem old fashion, with the use of the 90's technology. Giving this sort of empathy on a scene can give the audience an insight of what they can or could expect next. Setting the scene allows the essence of old fashion time zone within the Elizabethen times take control on the story line and plot.
